Lagos State University Postgraduate Admission Requirements
Here are the admission requirements for PGD, Masters and PhD programmes, for all levels of PG programmes. Simply read them to ensure you are qualified to apply for any PG courses offered by LASU.
Post Graduate Diploma Programmes
Eligible candidates for any of the PGD courses offered at LASU must meet the following requirements:
i. Such applicant must have obtained a minimum of 5 (Five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than two sittings.
2. Also, Candidates must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized University or HND from any recognized Polytechnic in Nigeria not lower than Third Class; or it’s equivalent to be eligible to apply.
3. In addition to the above, Candidates with a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Merit in a related field of study from a Polytechnic or any recognized institution.
4. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum Second Class (Lower Division) in a subject unrelated to the position for which they are applying in order to be considered.
Academic Master Degree Programmes
Applicants applying for Academic Masters Degree courses offered at LASU must meet the following requirements:
1. Applicants must obtain a minimum of 5 (five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than two sittings.
2. In addition to the above, Candidates must have obtained a first Degree from Lagos state university(LASU) or any recognized university in a relevant field with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division); and
3. Lastly, Candidates with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 is also eligible.
PROFESSIONAL MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Applicants applying for professional Master’s Degree courses offered at LASU must meet the following requirements:
1. Applying Candidates are expected to have a minimum of 5 (five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than 2 sittings and not more than two years apart.
2. Another PG admission requirement for Professional Master’s at LASUis, Candidate is expected to have obtained a First Degree from LASUor any recognized university in a relevant field with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)
3. In addition to the above (ii) candidates with a Third Class Degree or HND and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) from Lagos state university or any recognized institution with a minimum of 3.50 CGPA are eligible to apply.
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES (ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION ONLY)
Candidates applying for PhD programmes offered by LASU must meet the following requirements:
1. One of the requirements includes a minimum of 5 (five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than 2 sittings and not more than two years apart.
2. Secondly, Candidates are expected to have obtained a First Degree from Lagos State University or any of the recognised universities in Nigeria from any relevant field with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)
3. Lastly, the Candidate must have obtained a Master’s Degree from LASU or any recognized university in the proposed field of study with a minimum CGPA of 3.50.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please note that candidates with B.Sc, PGD and HND cannot apply for PhD directly without going through Master’s Degree programme first.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
The filled-out application forms must be attached with copies of the NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificates, as well as copies of all other required documents, including O’levels.
Candidates should make arrangements for their transcripts to be sent directly to the School of Postgraduate Studies’ Secretary. The applicant will suffer if their transcripts are not received on time.
