A Closer Look at the 2024 THE World University Rankings Methodology
The 2024 WUR adopted the innovative 3.0 methodology, which meticulously evaluated entries from 1,906 universities spanning 108 countries and regions. A remarkable 2,671 entries were assessed using 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators. These indicators scrutinised institutions across five key domains:
- Teaching
- Research Environment
- Research Quality
- Industry Involvement
- International Outlook
Comprehensive Data Analysis for Accurate Ranking
The ranking procedure was rigorous, analysing an extensive array of over 134 million citations extracted from 16.5 million research publications. Additionally, the rankings integrated responses from a global survey of 68,402 scholars. The data compilation was immense, with 411,789 data points collected from the 2,673 institutions that participated by submitting their data.

Professor Babatunde Kehinde, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, expressed his joy and congratulations to the entire University community. He emphasised the importance of this collective achievement and encouraged ongoing collaboration to reach even loftier heights.
FUNAAB’s Consistent Excellence
It is worth noting that this is not FUNAAB’s first encounter with academic accolades. The University previously clinched the second position within Nigeria in the 2023 Sub-Saharan Africa University rankings. It also earned the title of the best public university in the country, further solidifying its reputation for excellence.
