Eligibility and Guidelines

Before considering an application, it’s essential to understand the criteria and guidelines set by UNN to ensure a smooth transfer process:

  • Entry Requirements: Applicants must meet the minimum UNN and departmental entry requirements before their initial university admission.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.95 on a 5.00 scale is required, and applicants should not have spent more than two academic sessions at their former university.
  • Admission Quota: The number of admissions by transfer will not exceed 4% of the departmental admission quota annually.
  • Transcript Verification: Your application must include your transcript, which UNN officials will verify either in person or online.
  • JAMB Score Requirement: A JAMBscore not less than the minimum score of UNN students admitted into the same department in the same year is mandatory.
  • Course Continuity: Applicants must transfer into the same course they were studying at their previous university and must not be admitted beyond their second year.
  • Current Status: Applicants must be current students of the university from which they are transferring.

Application Procedure

Step 1: Payment Invoice Generation

  1. Visit the UNN website or portal (www.unn.edu.ng or unnportal.unn.edu.ng) and log in your telephone number to generate a unique Payment Invoice for the Application Processing Fee.
  2. Pay the non-refundable application fee of N195,000.00 (One Hundred and Ninety-five Thousand Naira) through the Remita payment platform at any commercial bank, including UNN Microfinance Bank.

Step 2: Completing the Online Form

  1. After payment, revisit the UNN website or portal, log in with your telephone and invoice numbers, and then fill out the Inter-University Transfer Form online.
  2. Print the completed form and submit it to the Registry (Admissions) along with copies of your O/Level Results, Result Checker (WAEC/NECO Scratch card(s)), and forward the last page of the form to your current university’s Registrar for completion to confirm your release.
  3. Ensure your current university’s Registrar forwards the release form and your transcript to the Registrar, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
